Web Designer / Front-End Developer

Job Description:

From concept through production, a web designer at Caliber Media Group not only needs to create artistically-vibrant and powerful design, but needs to be able to accurately translate that design into efficient, web standards-oriented code.

Potential candidates need to be familiar with the quirks/limitations of current and previous browsers (and email clients), and be able to effectively resolve code/layout bugs across them while maintaining the integrity of their design. Web designers also need to be comfortable with developing interactive (jQuery, ActionScript, etc.) elements within their sites, and code them efficiently so they can be easily updated/expanded.

The ideal candidate is the type who can hit the ground running, and be able to produce quality work under pressure of occasionally tight deadlines.

Duties:
  • Design and code web sites and email blasts
  • Maintain/update existing sites
  • Develop/design for our proprietary web-based solutions (including ecommerce, email marketing and CMS)
  • Occasionally produce script-oriented UI / interactive pieces (jQuery, ActionScript, etc.)
  • Create effective, inspired identity/branding packages
Potential Candidates:
  • Must be proficient in web standards-oriented web design and development (HTML, CSS - HTML5/CSS3 knowledge a plus)
  • Will be required to understand / produce at the code-level (i.e. hand-coding is preferred)
  • Must be proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash)
  • Must possess some familiarity with server-side scripting, particularly PHP (to effectively collaborate with the development team)
  • Will be capable of creating functional, web-based site wireframes
  • Must have experience with Javascript frameworks (preferably jQuery)
  • Must possess basic ActionScript 2 (and preferably also ActionScript 3) knowledge
Additional Skills:
  • Experience with creating HTML-based email blasts a major plus
  • Print experience a major plus
  • Experience with debugging older, table-based legacy web sites
  • Intermediate to advanced (i.e. object-oriented) ActionScript 3 knowledge/experience a plus
  • UI design experience
  • Mobile app design experience
